Discover Life in America will offer special programs at Sugarlands Visitor Center in Gatlinburg every third Friday of the month through October 2016. The program offers the public an opportunity to take an inside look at the important and unusual biodiversity in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The programs are on a variety of topics such as: Synchronous Fireflies, Pollinators in Trouble, and Why Do the Leaves Change Color. Registration is required for events, so please visit Discover Life in America or call 865-430-4757. Program dates are June 17, July 15, August 19, September 16, and October 21, 2016. Time of programs may vary, so please check when registering.
Discover Life in America is currently conducting an inventory on all species in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park – that’s 60,000 – 80,000 living organisms that make the national park home! To date, DLIA has added 9,140 new species to the park’s records and 970 new to science!
