Head on over to the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport in Sevierville on Saturday, January 28, 2017 for the special Shelby County Aviation Association’s Fly-in for Tourism. A group of pilots from Shelby County, Alabama will fly-in to the local airport with the single purpose of just spending money in the tourist towns that were affected by last year’s wildfires. (The group did this for the Alabama Gulf Coast when the oil pipeline leaked into the Gulf of Mexico.)
Well over two dozen pilots and their planes are expected to descend on the airpot beginning at 10:00 a.m. with all planes expected to land by 11:00 a.m. Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport welcomes the public to see the planes and welcome the pilots. The airport has a balcony and a few outside seats and guests are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch or snacks to enjoy your time at the airport. No airshow or formal ceremonies take place for the fly-in.
